This week, additional invites for provincial immigration were sent out by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). On June 3, 2025, the province conducted a draw with an emphasis on immigration applicants who had received employment offers from health care companies in Alberta. A total of thirty-six medical experts received invitations.
This is the sixth draw of its sort this year, and it was made through Alberta's Dedicated Health Care Pathway, which is associated with Express Entry.
Candidates needed to score at least 60 in order to be invited.
Pathway | Number of invitations issued | Cut-off score |
Dedicated Health Care Pathway (Express Entry) | 36 | 60 |
Candidates have to be employed in one of the qualifying health care occupations listed below in order to be eligible for consideration under the Express Entry-aligned Dedicated Health Care Pathway.
Nine occupations are eligible. Each profession is listed below, along with the relevant regulatory agency in charge of requiring proof of ability to practice in Alberta:
Profession | Regulatory body |
Physician | College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) |
Registered nurse | College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) |
Licensed practical nurse | College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) |
Nurse practitioner | College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) |
Physician assistant | College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) |
Occupational therapist | Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) |
Physiotherapist | College of Physiotherapists of Alberta (CPA) |
Clinical social worker | Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) |
Psychologist | College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) |
Candidates had to be eligible under a federal Express Entry program, have an active profile in the pool, have a qualifying work offer in an eligible health care field, and demonstrate that they met regulatory body standards.
Additionally, the selection criteria required that candidates' principal occupation on the Express Entry portal be one of the above-mentioned qualifying health care professions and that they have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300.
All medical personnel had to prove that they intended to live and work in Alberta.
Numbers of provincial nominations:
In terms of its 2025 nomination allotment, Alberta was given 4,875 spots. Through its several immigration streams and procedures, 2,276 provincial nominations have been made thus far.
The AAIP provides information about each pathway on its official website, including
The quantity of nominations that will be made;
The quantity of nominations that have already been made;
How many nomination spots are still available; and
How many Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are in the selection pool at the moment.
The aforementioned data is combined—that is, both pathways are considered—when it comes to information about the province's Dedicated Health Care Pathways (Express Entry and non-Express Entry).
These figures represent Alberta's Dedicated Health Care Pathways as of the time of writing.
Pathway | Nomination allocation for 2025 | Nominations issued in 2025 | Nomination spaces remaining for 2025 | EOIs in the selection pool |
Dedicated Health Care Pathways (Express Entry and non-Express Entry) | 500 | 170 | 330 | 1,507 |
Furthermore, 116 applications that were submitted on or before April 10, 2025, are presently being processed by the AAIP.
