Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for the most recent Express Entry draw. The government distributed 4,000 ITAs in a lottery for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates alone.
To be considered, candidates needed to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 509.
Today's draw was the third of the month, following two previous ones last week in which 911 candidates were invited from the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and 1,000 candidates were invited in a category-based selection draw for French language proficiency.
This was the largest CEC draw since July 31, when 5,000 candidates received ITAs.
The CRS score for today's draw has increased somewhat from the previous CEC draw. In the most recent one, held on August 27, candidates needed a minimum score of 507.

What is the definition of Express Entry?
Express Entry is an application management system that was released in 2015. It manages three of Canada's most well-known economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
All of these applications use the Comprehensive Ranking System to allocate points to several in-demand human capital variables such as language proficiency, education, job experience, age, and occupation. Candidates may also receive points for having a sibling in Canada, arriving with a spouse or partner, or scoring well on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) in both English and French.
The combined scores for these categories add up to a candidate's overall CRS score. Those with the highest scores are more likely to receive an ITA in the future Express Entry draw.
Last year, IRCC also used category-based selection draws for Express Entry candidates who possessed particular characteristics like as job experience or language proficiency. Six categories based were selected, including:
Healthcare
Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
Trades
Transport
Agriculture and agri-food
French language proficiency
According to IRCC, these categories were selected after engaging with a variety of stakeholders and represent Canada's need to address gaps in high-demand sectors of the national workforce, as well as demographic targets. For example, French language proficiency was chosen to assist the department in meeting its goal of establishing newcomers outside of Quebec in French-minority towns.
Once a candidate has received their ITA, they have 60 days to submit their final application to IRCC. The department maintains a six-month service standard for processing a completed Express Entry application.
