Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for the most recent Express Entry draw. The department distributed 3,000 ITAs through a healthcare category-based selection draw. Candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 463 to be considered.
Today's draw is the third this week, following a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw on November 19 and a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on November 18. This is the second week in a row that Express Entry draws have taken place.
The previous week, 1,933 ITAs were awarded to applicants in the CEC program, PNP candidates, and those with French language proficiency. According to the IRCC's most recent Immigration Levels Plan, federal immigration targets through the Express Entry system will climb next year. The immigration agency expects to welcome 124,680 Express Entry hopefuls to Canada next year.
In addition, more than 82,000 of these admissions will go to a new category for Express Entry candidates in Canada called the In-Canada Focus category. This category will be predominantly made up of CEC candidates in the Express Entry pool, but it may also contain candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and PNP-aligned Express Entry streams.
According to the most recent Levels Plan, the remaining 41,700 permanent resident (PR) admissions will be earmarked for the "Federal Economic Priorities" category. This category will be open to Express Entry candidates with professional expertise in high-demand professions and vocations in the Canadian labour market.
What is Express Entry and How it Works?
Express Entry is an application management system for three primary economic immigration programs for persons seeking Canadian permanent residence: the CEC, the FSWP, and the FSTP.
Candidates in these programs are evaluated using the CRS, which awards scores based on human capital variables such as age, occupation, language skills, education, and work experience.
Additional points may be awarded if you have a sibling in Canada, apply with a spouse or partner, or combine education and employment experience from Canada and abroad.
Candidates that secured a provincial nomination through an upgraded PNP stream can earn an additional 600 CRS points, considerably enhancing their chances of winning an ITA.
Candidates with the highest CRS scores are more likely to earn an ITA in future Express Entry lotteries, as long as they match the conditions for the specific draw.
